Create an Agent with GoPost.io

Agents are how GoPost manages your content flow between social media platforms. When you create an agent in GoPost, you set up a connection between a content source and one or more target platforms — so your posts, Reels, and videos can move from one place to another without manual downloading and re-uploading. There are two types of agents in GoPost, each designed for a different workflow. The Instagram Reposter pulls your existing Instagram content and lets you publish it to YouTube and LinkedIn. The Local Upload Publisher lets you upload content from your computer and push it out to any supported platform. This guide explains both agent types, helps you decide which one to use, and walks you through how to create an agent in GoPost step by step. Two Agent Types You Can Create in GoPost GoPost offers two agent types. The one you choose depends on where your content currently lives and how you want to publish it. Instagram Reposter The Instagram Reposter is built for creators and social media managers who already have content on Instagram and want to distribute it to other platforms. Once you connect your Instagram account as a source, the agent pulls in your existing posts — Reels, Posts, and Stories — and makes them available to publish or schedule to YouTube and LinkedIn. This is the right choice when: You already have a library of Instagram content you want to repurpose You want to cross post Instagram content to YouTube, LinkedIn, or both You want to avoid downloading and re-uploading files between platforms You want to edit metadata (descriptions, tags, thumbnails) for each target platform before publishing Think of it as a bridge between Instagram and your other platforms. Your content stays on Instagram, and GoPost handles getting it everywhere else. Local Upload Publisher The Local Upload Publisher is for when your content isn’t on Instagram yet — or isn’t on any platform at all. You upload videos, images, or other media directly from your computer or select files from your GoPost media library, then publish to one or more target platforms. This is the right choice when: You have fresh content on your computer that hasn’t been posted anywhere yet You want to publish the same content to multiple platforms simultaneously You create content outside of Instagram (e.g. edited in Premiere, CapCut, or Canva) and want to distribute it directly You want to post to Instagram itself as one of the target platforms The key difference: the Instagram Reposter pulls content from Instagram. The Local Upload Publisher lets you push content to Instagram (and other platforms) from your own files. Which Agent Should You Create in GoPost? If you’re a creator who posts to Instagram first and then wants to repurpose that content elsewhere, start with the Instagram Reposter. It’s the fastest path to getting your existing content working harder across platforms. If you produce content independently and want to push it out to multiple platforms at once (including Instagram), use the Local Upload Publisher. You can use both agent types in the same GoPost account. Many creators use the Instagram Reposter for their backlog of existing content and the Local Upload Publisher for new content they produce going forward. The free plan includes one agent, and paid plans offer unlimited agents. How to Create an Agent in GoPost: Instagram Reposter Setting up an Instagram Reposter takes about two minutes. Here’s how to create this agent in GoPost: Go to Create a New Agent Select Instagram Reposter as the agent type Select your Instagram account as the source Choose the content types you want to pull (Reels, Posts, Stories) Select your target platforms — YouTube, LinkedIn, or both Choose the content type for each target platform Click Complete Agent Setup Once created, GoPost pulls in all your Instagram content. You’ll see everything listed in the agent view, ready to edit, schedule, or publish. Select a target platform, review the metadata, and you’re ready to go. [VIDEO EMBED: Create an Agent video] How to Create an Agent in GoPost: Local Upload Publisher The Local Upload Publisher setup is similar, but instead of connecting a source platform, you upload your content directly. Go to Create a New Agent Select Local Upload Publisher as the agent type Click Select or Upload Media to add content from your computer or GoPost media library Select your target platforms (Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn) Choose the content type for each target platform Click Complete Agent Setup Your media is now loaded into the agent and ready to publish or schedule to all selected platforms. What Happens After You Create an Agent in GoPost Once your agent is set up, the Agent Details page becomes your control centre. From here you can: Select a target platform and browse all available content Edit metadata — update descriptions, thumbnails, tags, and other platform-specific details before publishing Publish immediately or schedule for a specific date and time Use Smart Scheduling to let GoPost choose optimal posting times automatically Use Bulk Scheduling to queue multiple posts at once Filter content by status: Published, Scheduled, Unpublished, or Failed Search for specific content or sort by creation date Check publishing status and retry failed posts For a complete walkthrough of publishing and scheduling, see our guide on how to cross post social media content with GoPost. Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Agents Customise metadata for each platform. After you create an agent in GoPost and start publishing, remember that what works as an Instagram caption may not translate well to YouTube or LinkedIn. Take a moment to adjust descriptions and tags for each target before publishing. Use one agent per client. If you manage social media for multiple clients, create a separate agent for each one. For example: Client A’s Instagram Reposter → YouTube + LinkedIn, Client B’s Local Upload Publisher → Instagram + LinkedIn. This keeps content organised and prevents accidental mix-ups. Combine both agent types. Use the Instagram Reposter

How to Cross Post Social Media Content with GoPost

Managing content across multiple social media platforms is time-consuming. Every time you want to cross post social media content from Instagram to YouTube or LinkedIn, you end up downloading, reformatting, and re-uploading the same files. Multiply that by several clients or accounts, and you’re spending hours on repetitive work instead of growing your audience. GoPost simplifies this. It lets you cross post social media content across Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn from a single dashboard — without downloading and re-uploading files between platforms. This guide walks you through the complete workflow: connecting your social accounts, setting up cross-post agents, scheduling content, and using smart scheduling to post at optimal times. Why Use GoPost to Cross Post Social Media Content GoPost is a tool that helps you cross post social media content across platforms. Built for creators, freelance social media managers, and small teams who manage multiple accounts. Instead of logging into each platform separately, you connect your accounts once and manage everything from GoPost. The core concept is the Cross-Post Agent — a one-time setup that links a source platform (like Instagram) to one or more target platforms (like YouTube and LinkedIn). Once an agent is active, your content flows from source to targets with minimal effort. Currently supported platforms: Instagram — as a content source YouTube — as a target for publishing LinkedIn — as a target for publishing Google Drive — for media storage and access Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter support are coming soon. Step 1: Connect Your Social Media Accounts Before you can cross-post or schedule anything, you need to connect at least one source platform and one target platform. Log in to your GoPost account at gopost.io Navigate to the Connections page Select the platform you want to connect (Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, or Google Drive) Authorise GoPost to access your account through the platform’s standard OAuth flow Repeat for each platform you want to use You only need to do this once per account. GoPost securely stores your connection and keeps it active until you disconnect. Step 2: Set Up a Cross Post Social Media Agent A Cross-Post Agent is what makes GoPost different from a standard scheduler. When you cross post social media content through an agent, it pulls your posts from a source platform and makes them available to publish or schedule to your targets — without you needing to download, reformat, or re-upload anything. To create an agent: Go to the All Agents page Click Create Agent Select your source platform (e.g. Instagram) Select your target platform(s) (e.g. YouTube, LinkedIn, or both) Save the agent Once created, the agent automatically pulls in all content from your source platform. You’ll see your posts listed on the Agent Details page, ready to edit, schedule, or publish. Step 3: Publish or Schedule Your Content With your agent set up, you can now publish content immediately or schedule it for later. Publish Immediately Open your agent and select a target platform (YouTube or LinkedIn) Browse your content list and select one or more items Edit metadata if needed — update descriptions, thumbnails, tags, or any platform-specific details Click Publish to post immediately Schedule for Later If you want your content to go out at a specific date and time: Select the content you want to schedule Click Schedule and choose your preferred date and time GoPost will publish it automatically at the scheduled time You can track the status of every post from the agent view. Use the Refresh button to check for updates. Filter by status (Published, Scheduled, Unpublished, Failed) or search for specific content. Sort by creation date to find what you need quickly. Step 4: Use Smart Scheduling to Post at Optimal Times Choosing the right time to post can make a real difference in reach and engagement. GoPost’s Smart Scheduling feature removes the guesswork. Instead of manually picking dates and times for each post, you can select multiple pieces of content and click Auto Schedule. GoPost’s algorithm will: Distribute your posts across multiple days Choose optimal time slots based on engagement patterns for each platform Space content evenly so your audience isn’t overwhelmed This is particularly useful when you’re repurposing a batch of content — say, 10 Instagram posts that you want to roll out across LinkedIn over the next two weeks. Select all 10, hit Auto Schedule, and GoPost handles the rest. For ideas on creating content worth scheduling, see our guide on how to repurpose blog content for social media. Bulk Scheduling: Cross Post Social Media Content at Scale If you manage multiple clients or accounts, you likely have a backlog of content to schedule at once. GoPost’s bulk scheduling lets you cross post social media content in batches — select multiple items from your content list, set your scheduling preferences, and queue them all in one action. Combined with Smart Scheduling, this means you can plan an entire week’s worth of content across platforms in minutes rather than hours. Tips for Getting the Most Out of GoPost Edit metadata before publishing. When you cross post social media content, what works as an Instagram caption may not work as a LinkedIn post. Take a moment to adjust descriptions, hashtags, and tags for each target platform. This small step makes your content feel native to each platform rather than copy-pasted. Use Smart Scheduling for consistency. Posting regularly matters more than posting perfectly. Smart Scheduling helps you maintain a consistent presence without manually planning every time slot. Set up agents for each content flow. If you manage content for multiple clients, create a separate agent for each client’s workflow. For example: Client A’s Instagram → YouTube, Client B’s Instagram → LinkedIn. This keeps your content organised and prevents mix-ups. Check post status after publishing. Use the status filter to quickly see which posts were published successfully and which failed. If a post fails, you can retry it directly from the same screen.
